“Everybody wants to get on the Van Gogh boat. There's no trip so horrible that someone won't take it. The idea of the unrecognized genius slaving away in a garret is a deliciously foolish one.”
- René Ricard, Basquiat (1996), written and directed by Julian Schnabel

At 16, I believed an artist’s goal was to make such unique, mind-bending work that my name would live in history. Over time, I realized people make art for many reasons-and so do I. For nearly 30 years, I focused on the love of art itself, even accepting that my work might only be discovered after I’m gone.
Every artist resonates with someone, but I’ve long been drawn to the kind of work that connects with many-like the Van Goghs of the world. I became so obsessed with creating and perfecting that I neglected to pursue recognition. Now, I’m ready to test my theories: have I found a way to raise the vibrations of humanity through art?
I’ve learned that the “horrible trip” isn’t creation-it’s chasing validation. Pure creation is life-giving. If my work resonates, I invite you to join the journey through social media or by supporting a purchase.

We are too unique to follow one “ism”.
Yet we are too connected to not have one shared spiritual Source.
The Urantia Book teaches the concept of “unity without uniformity”-a powerful idea offering a clear path to both personal transformation and global peace. If you read this revelatory book, you’ll see why I’ve spent years sitting and creating art in service of its message.
My artwork is about uniting all of us without erasing your individual personality. This is represented by my harmony of universal imagery with subjective abstraction.
Yes, my work reflects that classic journey of a struggling artist who found himself on a spiritual path, but it also points to a never realized, bigger story-people awakening and living together in peace.
Let my art be a bridge into this story, and my work a promise that The Urantia Book will illuminate your path.
The Urantia Book is a spiritual revelation unlike anything else on this planet. It is written by celestial beings to reveal the truth to a confused world. As the saying goes, "Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence" and this book 100 percent delivers. But familiarity blinds us, so it is best to approach with an unbiased and open mind.
Although it is not a religion in and of it self, being 2,000 pages long, those who embrace it consider it a lifelong study. You can read it all online and listen for free in the above link, but I recommend getting a nice hard cover and start unlocking some truly profound reading moments, and life changing teachings. You can find this book anywhere books are sold, and in most libraries.
I have a youtube channel which acts as a guide to the text, and how it applies to our lives individually and collectively. I combine this with my art creation process in interesting ways. Check out the "Urantia Masters" link to watch!

Urantia Masters is the place for everything Coughlin and Urantia. This is includes live streams where we discuss art, lifestyle, The Urantia Book, and world events from the perspective of an off grid artist.
“Perfect Position” uses The Urantia Book as a lens to explore global events, connecting the day’s headlines to timeless spiritual principles. By framing current challenges within a long-range vision of planetary progress, the segment offers hope without ignoring reality. It bridges the practical and the spiritual, showing how eternal truths apply to modern life. The tone stays welcoming and exploratory, inviting both newcomers and seasoned readers to see the bigger picture.
“Urantia Reading” is a segment where I read passages from The Urantia Book and share my personal reflections. I draw on my own journey of applying its teachings to transform my life, from spiritual growth to practical changes in diet and daily habits. The goal is to make the book’s wisdom relatable and actionable for anyone seeking both inner and outer transformation.
“Art Club” is a live stream where I paint or draw while sharing art tips, techniques, and creative inspiration. Viewers are encouraged to work on their own projects alongside me, making it an interactive, hands-on experience. We also keep the earlier conversations going, with plenty of room for questions, feedback, and community input.
